About

Coleen Ten-Pow is the Founder and Director of S.M.A.R.T. She is a dedicated, creative, and goal-driven professional educator with over 15 years of classroom experience. She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a BA in Sociology and a Minor in Childhood Delinquency. Coleen is a trained teacher and brings a wealth of academic excellence as well as a proven record of tutoring.  For years Coleen tutored and mentored talented high school athletes unable to accept scholarships because they did not have the grades. She developed a proven track record with these athletes allowing them to accomplish goals they though were unattainable. Coleen has worked with both privileged and under-privileged students from elementary through high school both in California and here in Florida. She has homeschooled students and worked in the private school environment.  Her experiences over the years provided her with the insight she needed to excel at and enjoy tutoring.  Coleen enjoys the challenge of uncovering each child’s unique strengths and gifts. She combines those strengths with research-based strategies to help a student overcome their limitations and reach their full potential. She is passionate about the foundational years and is inspired to focus more on those early critical years in a child’s development.

Coleen’s life goals are to become a full-time entrepreneur and to close the gaps in student learning especially in populations in need. Her goal as a tutor is not only to teach your child academic skills, but to help them experience success and rekindle their love of learning to become life-long learners.
